Create engaging, whimsical and vibrant lamppost cozies in the theme of Discovery Borealis along 118th Avenue to delight festival visitors young and old.

Challenge Details:

• Creative teams of up to 3 builders will be tasked with designing, creating and installing their art on Deep Freeze festival site lampposts for over 50,000 eager festival-goers!

• Each team must submit a simple, clear proposal & project description with rough sketches pertaining to the theme of: Discovery Borealis

• The Lamppost Installations will begin on Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 am and must be completed within 24 hours by Sunday, January 17 at 11:00 am.

• Teams will not be provided materials, so get creative using found materials! Lampposts must be constructed from materials that do not pose any danger to artists or audiences.

• Artists must commit to spending a minimum of 2 hours working on the piece on-site as festival go-ers want to see you at work!

• Installations must be dismantled by the artist(s) on the evening of January 17 after the festival closes at 6pm, if a lamppost site is damaged the artist team will be billed.

• Judges will select the prize winners on Sunday, January 17 - $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for people’s choice.

• Most importantly, have fun! Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided along with a spot to warm up!
