Built by students of Jasper Place High School and inspired by Noella Steinhauer, the Ribbon Skirt installation pays tribute to the strength and resilience of Indigenous women. The skirts serve as a visual language and can express personal experiences and ceremonial significance.

Lion Dance is an important part of Chinese culture and tradition. In the past, Lion Dance was only seen during Chinese New Year and at some businesses grand openings; today, Lion Dance is a common sight at weddings, anniversaries, parades, and many other functions and events. The lion's blessings are believed to bring happiness, longevity and good luck.

Hong De Lion Dance Troupe is an official member of the International Sar Ping Lion Dance Confederation. Our goal is to develop and promote the art of Lion Dance as a cultural sport with systematic training programs of international standards.

Randall Fraser brings Knighty Knight, the first part of the trilogy to life in a new one person roving puppet show that captures all the fun and gooffiness of the original, but in a mobile puppet theatre. come relive the antics of Princess Terra, Dame Jane, the Blue and Gold Knights, a rancid old Troll, and of course the Wandering Friar.

As we embark upon the final months of winter, let us look forward to the warmth of the sun and the life it will bring back to the frozen earth. Come and stand under the beautiful menagerie of ribbons and colours created by artist Candace Makowichuk.

Stiltwalkers

Since 2001, the National Stiltwalkers of Canada have shared their “high-spirited entertainment” at festivals and events throughout Alberta. They have also performed in Ottawa, the Maritimes, Victoria, Oregon, Washington, DC, and at an international circus festival in Nanjing, China. They are excited to be returning to Deep Freeze 2023. Keep an eye out for these exciting performers strolling down the avenue in style!

Horse and Wagon Rides

Fundraising Activity

  • Saturday & Sunday • Noon – 5:45 pm

  • Minimum $5 donation per ride/person. Receive a tax receipt for donations over $20.

Sleigh bells are ringing! Take a ride down memory lane in an old- fashioned wagon. Pick-up is located on 92 Street between 118 and 119 Avenue. The wagon ride takes patrons through a two-block loop of our historic Alberta Avenue neighbourhood.
